Ok, then, you have decided to come the Poconos to ski (snowboard or tube). We're going to guide you through the process of deciding which Poconos hotel or resort is right for your getaway. First decide on which ski resort is right for your trip:

Camelback - The Poconos Largest Ski Resort. 33 Trails, three ski lodges, cafateria and sit down restaurants, pleanty of parking, centered in the Poconos but only 2 hours from New York City or Philadelphia. The Ski resort with the most activities including a very active apre ski lounge. The best food. (A little expensive, but you are on vacation, right?)The largest rental operation and it runs pretty well so getting in and out of the rental shops is usually quick. Snowboarding terrain and, for those who do not ski or ride, a large snowtubing park. Jack Frost - The Philly crowd likes this resort 'cause you just get on the Turnpike in KOP and get off only a couple miles from J Frost at the White Haven Exit. A good selection of trails, well groomed, an unusual Lodge at the top of the mountain. A real Skier's experience. (Don't expect Luxury). Jack's trails are generally wider and longer than Camelback, giving the novice plenty of room to turn and the experienced a pretty much boring time. Not many places to stay: Try Split Rock for villas, The White Haven America's Best Inn, The Blakeslee Inn and Restaurant (motel style rooms that are clean and cute AND a great restaurant)

Shawnee - What Shawnee has going for it is its location. It is the closest ski resort to New Jersey and New York. They work hard at snowmaking and do a pretty good job of keeping the slopes covered. The Lodge is rustic with a large fireplace in the center. (Nice to look at, hard to get a seat by). Beware of the school groups weekday nights. It can seem as though you're still in grade school. Don't come for the food, but there is a lounge in the lodge that CAN at times be active and fun. Blue Mountain - The Poconos Southernmost Ski resort. No place to stay near the Mountain, whichn is used mostly for day trippers from Philly or the Lehigh Valley. Consider this area for a side trip if you are staying near one of the other resorts. The Closest Places to Stay: The Inn at Jim Thorpe, The Country Inn and Suites in Lehighton.
